What's new, what stays the same, and what it means for you.
At Find Love Safely, our mission has always been simple: to provide safe, thoughtful, and meaningful opportunities for connection, friendship, and love for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As our community has grown, we’ve listened closely to members, caregivers, and matchmakers about what’s working, what’s confusing, and where additional clarity or support would be helpful. Based on that feedback, we’ve made a number of thoughtful updates to our programs and structure.
This page is here to explain those updates clearly and transparently — and to answer the most common questions we’ve been hearing.
First, a Sincere Thank You
Before diving in, I want to pause and express my deep gratitude.
Many of you took a chance on Find Love Safely in its earliest days — before we had everything fully built or figured out. You showed patience, trust, and grace as we learned and grew. We don’t take that lightly.
These updates are not a change in values. They’re a reflection of our commitment to doing this work responsibly, sustainably, and with care for the people we serve.

What's Staying the Same
Some things remain at the very heart of Find Love Safely.
Matchmaking is still our core focus.
Personalized, human-centered matchmaking remains the foundation of every program we offer.
Safety, dignity, and thoughtful pacing remain top priorities.
We continue to prioritize consent, boundaries, and respectful communication in everything we do.
Caregivers are still valued partners.
Caregiver involvement is discussed during intake and tailored to each member’s communication preferences and support needs.
What's New (and Clearer)
To make things easier to understand and more sustainable long-term, we’ve clarified our offerings into three distinct programs:
1. Core Program
Designed for members who want matchmaking-focused support and includes:
- Personalized matchmaking support
- Quarterly check-ins to revisit goals and preferences
- Free admission to local events when available
The Core Program does not include ongoing virtual workshops.
2. Essentials Program
Designed for members who want matchmaking plus ongoing skill-building and connection. Includes everything in Core, plus:
- Twice-monthly live virtual workshops
- Caregiver summary emails after each workshop
3. Concierge Program
Designed for members who want the highest level of personalized support. Includes everything in Essentials, plus:
- Ongoing 1:1 coaching
- More hands-on, individualized guidance
About Virtual Workshops
Our live virtual workshops are designed to support social skills, communication, safety, and healthy relationships in a warm, structured environment.
A few important clarifications:
- Ongoing workshop access is included with the Essentials and Concierge programs
- Workshops are held live, twice monthly
- Workshops are for members only, to create a comfortable peer environment
- Caregivers in Essentials and Concierge receive a summary email after each workshop
New City Thank-You
Members who join Find Love Safely in newly launched cities receive complimentary access to live virtual workshops for their first three months as a thank-you for helping build the local community. After that period, ongoing workshop access is based on the program selected.
For Current Members
If you are a current member, we want to be very clear:
- Nothing is being taken away during your current membership term
- Many current members have been grandfathered into the Essentials Program for the remainder of their active membership
- Any future changes to access (such as workshop access at renewal) are communicated clearly and in advance
Our goal is clarity — not surprise.
For Early "Lifetime" Members
A small group of early members were offered complimentary lifetime access when Find Love Safely first launched.
To honor that commitment while ensuring sustainability:
- Complimentary lifetime access continues to include Core Program matchmaking services
- Services introduced later — such as live virtual workshops and coaching — are not included in complimentary lifetime access
- Early members are always welcome to opt into Essentials or Concierge if they’d like additional support
We’re deeply grateful for our early members and remain committed to transparency and respect.
Rather than rigid labels, we now focus on communication preferences discussed during intake:
- Some members communicate primarily on their own
- Some caregivers prefer to be closely involved
- Many families choose a shared approach
We continue communicating in the way that works best for each member and family, and preferences can evolve over time.
If you were previously in a “Supported” or “Independent” model
In the past, Find Love Safely used “Supported” and “Independent” labels to help guide communication and caregiver involvement. We’ve moved away from those labels to allow for more flexibility and personalization.
If you were previously in one of these models, there is nothing you need to do right now.
Here’s what that means:
- We will continue communicating the same way we currently do unless you ask us to change it
- Members who communicate directly (as previously in the Independent model) will continue to do so
- Caregivers who are the primary point of contact (as previously in the Supported model) will remain so
- Preferences can be updated at any time if needs or comfort levels change
Rather than fitting people into fixed categories, we now focus on clear communication preferences discussed during intake and check-ins. This allows support to evolve naturally as confidence, independence, and circumstances change over time.
Looking Ahead
As Find Love Safely continues to grow, our focus remains the same:
- Clear expectations
- Ethical, sustainable services
- Thoughtful support for members and families
When memberships come up for renewal, members can:
- Continue with matchmaking-focused support
- Or choose a program that includes workshops or coaching if that feels helpful
There is never pressure to upgrade — only options.
